Is it the best? Maaaybe? I think it may be a toss-up between the latest movie and the TV show Superman & Lois. But as far as Superman's political messaging goes, I think the 2025 film might actually be the most in sync with the wide-ranging breadth of the character's history. 8/8

In this landscape of corporation-approved film adaptations of superheroes upholding neoliberal values [cough-Disney-cough], it's Superman, the king daddy of all modern-day superheroes, who sends a clear message of progressive, antifascist values. 6/8

It's one of the things I've come to love more and more about the character over the years. He's the kind of guy who always fights for those who find themselves marginalized by the ones who hold power and influence. 5/8

In his review of the 2025 film, Ben Shapiro mentions that Superman always cared about private property. Yet in most versions of the character, Superman finds himself at odds with police and other members of the executive branch because he sees property as disposable when compared to human lives. 4/8

In both Action Comics (1938-present) issue 1 and Action Comics (2011-2016) issue 1, Superman fights corrupt slumlords/politicians/corrupt executives. who are exploiting land and real estate at the expense of people living in low-income housing. 3/8

Ummm... Who put this map together? Several of these lines aren't even pointing to the correct country, state, or province, let alone anywhere in the vicinity of the correct city (which honestly would be forgivable as long as they got the correct state/province/market/country right).

This was one of the best games of hockey I've seen in a very long time. It had everything.

I know it's irrational, but Batman Forever was one of my favorites as a kid. I loved this movie, and frankly, I probably rewatched it more times than either of Keaton's films. Val Kilmer will always be Batman to me. RIP

Not to brag, but I can name far more than 10—professional, amateur (okay, maybe not 10 from this category), currently active, retired.

Despite absolutely dominating in this tournament, Nadeshiko Japan still entered the final as underdogs to the USWNT juggernaut. Yet they held on, and against the odds, they pulled off an incredible upset to beat the US on American turf. 🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵 #SheBelievesCup

CW: anti-Asian rhetoric.

White folks are wild, unpredictable, and dangerous. If you have to engage them, do so cautiously.

Seriously though, this kind of behavior is going to become more frequent in the coming years. People like this will be emboldened by the incoming administration.

Stay safe.

The law that served as the legal basis for placing Japanese Americans into concentration camps has never been repealed and is being hinted at as the legal basis for the mass deportations the next administration is threatening.

Welp, here we go again. Making jokes about how Asians spread diseases. I guess we haven't gotten it out of our system yet.
