Many TX and CA cities pay around that amount (or more) with a council-manager system.

Feeding America has a 95% charity navigator rating…

Unless you’re in another country, a non-profit organization limiting the speech of its employees is pretty sus… also, you’re an anonymous profile. I’m gonna call BS on this one

I’m a baby with stimulants… I can have one serving of soda and that’s it! 😂

Progress over perfection. So the point of this whole thread was for me to support progressive candidates? Because I already do that…

We can do better than CEOs getting paid 500 times more than their employees. Let’s start there.

Unfortunately, our economic system is capitalistic in nature. As sweet as your sentiment is, that’s not the reality for anyone (coming from someone who works in the public sector). Public servants know they are underpaid and it often hurts their quality of life.

What opportunity? Like lobbyists? And book deals? Don’t you see what you’re saying…
November 26, 2025 at 4:29 PM
Because they don’t get lobbyists begging to meet with them every day. They don’t get a bunch of book deals after they’re done. They don’t get worldwide fame and power. POTUS makes FAR more than their salary.

Making 15 to 20 times the average employees is a factor of 20 lower than the status quo…
November 26, 2025 at 3:52 PM
It’s also one of the only roles with salaries that are publicly readily available. I just don’t understand why everyone is getting so worked up over her making 0.02% of her organization’s budget when executives at other orgs make 500 to 1000 times their average employee
November 26, 2025 at 3:43 PM
People in the political sphere at a level where they receive a national spotlight often come out of it many times richer than their salary would suggest. Comparing a large non-profit CEO to a politician isn’t as fruitful. City Managers are the most analogous role.
November 26, 2025 at 3:41 PM
NYC doesn’t have a city manager, so it’s not apples to apples.

Everyone getting upset about the CEO of one of the largest nutrition nonprofits getting paid just over a million… your focusing on a spec in the eye when there are about one million planks in this country
November 26, 2025 at 6:08 AM
You clearly don’t understand what “non-profit” or “for profit” mean…
November 26, 2025 at 6:06 AM
But if the organization were to have a smaller budget without that CEO, the $1mil is justified, is it not? Especially in a year like this one when the government decides to defund a bunch of grants and take away SNAP on a whim.
November 26, 2025 at 6:05 AM
I honestly don’t know if I’d trust someone getting paid less to run a $5billion budget… cities with ~1,000,000 have budgets that are half the size of that, and they pay their city managers about half a million… and they’re just managers, not org leaders (mayor, city council, etc)
November 26, 2025 at 6:01 AM
It’s almost as if they know who did it and they’re trying to find someone else to blame 🤔

He knows we have access to his campaign finance donations during that time, correct?
November 17, 2025 at 9:25 PM
And “many Canadians feel”… like, of course that’s condescending… why are reducing it to feelings?
November 13, 2025 at 1:55 PM
It’s an advanced form of cognitive dissonance. The further one goes down the rabbit hole, the more they realize how wrong they are, so their brain experiences more stress, they obsess over the stress, and they get sicker. Over and over.
