The Bear On The Stair protects your house from Elf infestations by putting them in jail. It never moves, doesn't creepilly spy on your kids, and randomly gives treats to good kids.

Been saying this about farmers for many years. I grew up on a farm in the 80's, when they were actually poor. The families that made it are now land-baron welfare kings cosplaying as poor.

Their greed is THE reason why rural America is a so shitty now.

Two things I wish I learned 20 years ago:

Pesto and KT tape fix everything.

I'm choosing to believe he removed his helmet, mounted it on his fist (with flare and gusto), and connected with a heavy right hook.

Every white collar job listing:

1-2 sentences about your actual core work and value-add to an organization.

3 paragraphs describing administrative busy work that mostly didn't exist 20 years ago.

Frenzied busy-bodies have weaponized our information systems to ruin white collar work.

I feel for that guy. I really do. Because in another life Pete would’ve been on the wrong end of a sock full of soap bars and they’d have sorted him out proper. But now he’s the boss. Given a mantle by an even fatter man. Who deliberately avoided enlistment. And that’s how a lifetime of service ends

Wow. I don't recall being banned from any online place before.

I guess this is a sign of the times.

They've fully embraced "cancel culture" after a decade of cry-bullying about it.

One of my college jobs was tech
support for computer labs. I had after hours access to our NT machines and pinball a lot.
Now I can pretend to be a frame rate hipster.

"meh 120fps on doom is fine but
nothing will ever top pinball at 5k while drinking Surge"

there’s something so enchantingly beautiful about one man saying “i’m going to throw this ball as hard as i can” and another guy with a bat saying “the fuck you are”

We can't click on the Windows clock on the lower right to glance at the calendar anymore.

This is terrible. All the other methods are multiple clicks away and by the time I get there I've forgotten why I was looking up last Thursday's date.

1000lbs is like half a pallet. This story is only interesting if the vehicle involved is a Miata.

There's a clear Schwann's truck delivery to fascist pipeline.

First you start with the mozzarella sticks then a decade later your freezer is packed with a year's supply of fried food. It's backed up by a generator and protected by the 2nd amendment. Don't tread on my chicken tendies.

I swear I'm nice in irl but if someone ever tells me their dog is 14/15 lbs I'd become laser focused on reflecting their absurdity until one of us snaps.

Some day a compelling story about an actual bomb shell will happen and it will be universally ignored as clickbait.

My dream is for @scalzi.com to write this book. It's dark comedy sci fi that only John can pull off:

There's the stereotypical clash between the good and evil aliens, saving/destroying lesser civilitions across the galaxy.

The evil aliens set their sights on earth...the good aliens can warn us.

It's adorable that tech slop writers still have that Popular Mechanics positive futurism vibe.

"More space for people to enjoy"

Lol, its not 1970. They'd "maximize shareholder value" with that space through 3D CAD before it ever flies. It'd be fully enshitified on day 1.

Ticketmaster has to be some mass psych experiment to see how far people can be pushed.

Fighting through their labrybth of inconveniences while being charged convenience fees is threatening my sanity.
