#narcissisticabuse is a #safeguarding, #mentalhealth and #publichealth issue. It should be taught to all safeguarding professionals and #schoolnurses should be teaching it in #sre
I’ve been really surprised this #plasticfreejuly by how far I’ve come. I started making swaps in 2019. I still use #plastic but I’m incrementally reducing it here and there, whenever I can make it work. #atomichabits put into practice.

#papertape - #plasticfreejuly
Wherever I can I use paper tape instead of #sellotape.

#plasticfree #dentalfloss
I went plastic free with my dental floss about 6 months ago. New reels come wrapped in paper.

#plasticfree #pens
I switched to these pens made of #paper and and #metal core about 4 years ago during #plasticfreejuly. Always a good talking point at work. When they run out I soak the paper off and stick it in my #compost. The core goes to #scrapmetal or #recycling

#plasticfree #cottonbuds made of wood that can be composted
I made this change for #plasticfreejuly a couple of years ago and will never go back now.
Note - never put anything smaller than your elbow into your ear (a tip from when I specialised as an audiology nurse).

10% of plastic waste is recyclable vs. 100% of glass (Nancy Birtwhistle, 2025)

We shouldn't just give up on reusing plastic, but next time you're in the market for a new lunch box it's worth condsidering something other than plastic.

I don't understand how we have a body of people using the term Child and Mother Sabotage #cams and arguing #parentalalienation is a made up term. CAMS is also a made up term. I dont use PA either but surely we're not saying there's never been a male victim of #domesticabuse?

Ways to reduce your plastic consumption:
#refuse #reduce #replace #reuse
because unfortunately #recycle isn't the answer.

An old photo from a few years ago, highlighting that we can make a choice to buy products wrapped in paper rather than plastic.

Slowly winning the argument with my husband that we should tie the roses to their supports with garden twine instead of plastic cable ties which look dreadful anyway.

Reusing bags - plastic free - I made this for Guide Camp in the 90s and now use it for buying loose fruit and veg.

Making tea in a pot means you don’t have to dispose of plastic teabags.

My latest haul from #refill shop. #plasticfree includes reusing plastic we already have.

Let’s normalise #plasticfree shopping - here’s part of a set of fruit and veg bags I bought in 2020. I try to go to our local grocery store that sells these items loose. If consume less plastic, shops will have to reduce it to keep our custom

I am disturbed to read that "girls are leaving school not knowing what constitutes a 'normal' period, unequipped to spot the signs of reproductive health conditions" in @TVNaga01's book 'It's probably nothing' - @wesstreeting this is a clear sign we need more #schoolnurses.

It's not always about refusing #plastic, sometimes it's about reusing the plastic we already have. This coleslaw pot was bought for my son's Confirmation party in 2016.

I've been using #nancybirtwistle recipes to substitute my cleaning chemicals since spring this year. My toilet is actually cleaner than when we used bleach. Killing fewer fish and using less plastic!

Let's normalize buying loose #fruitandveg in #reusable #plasticfree bags.
Here’s a pump bag my mum made for me in 1984 for school. On the reverse is my maiden name which she chainstitched very neatly. It reminds me of her and its got plenty of life left.
