New TYP lab publication led by PhD student @alexlish.bsky.social out today in @cp-cellreports.bsky.social! We present a reproducible neuron-astrocyte-microglia tri-culture model to better reproduce intercellular interactions in Alzheimer's disease. Read more here: www.cell.com/cell-reports...
Astrocyte induction of disease-associated microglia is suppressed by acute exposure to fAD neurons in human iPSC triple cultures
Lish et al. present a co-culture system of iPSC-derived human microglia, astrocytes, and neurons to investigate intercellular communication across different environmental and genetic contexts. Transcr...

Interested in #oligodendrocyte metabolism and/or #multiplesclerosis? Our paper is now at Biorxiv! We show that oligos express MCT2, the high affinity monocarboxylate transporter, well known for supplying neurons with astrocyte-derived lactate (astro-neuron lactate shuttle)👇
Monocarboxylate transporter 2 is required for the maintenance of myelin and axonal integrity by oligodendrocytes https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2025.01.10.632306v1

How does a brain with #Alzheimer look in the microscope? Neurons are dying, and I literally see holes in the tissue, like below. You can see microglia (🟡), brain immune cells, accumulating where the tissue disappears (hippocampus & entorhinal cortex). Additional markers: Astrocyte(🟣), pTau(🔵). 🧠🔬
