The entire Ghibli ethos is tied up in the idea of craftsmanship. It's a textual subject of the films (hand carving violins in Whisper of the Heart, for just one example) and the meta work that goes into the films themselves. Their films feature hard workers, and are animated with sweat and tears.

Something I've been thinking about for years now. It first occurred to me when I realized that melodrama isn't meant to exaggerate emotions, but to render them in fiction as we experience them internally.
Howard Brenton says the magic in his plays - Churchill rising from his coffin to speak, that sort of thing - isn't there to make his plays more theatrical but more real. The difference is crucial but takes thinking about.

There's an interesting problem in digital preservation, which is that preservation only exists actively. Only the things you actively move to new formats, survives.

Community is probably the same way: it has to be actively maintained in order to outlive whatever spot it's currently in.
