But we are not far removed from thinking women needed to be protected from themselves on most of these issues, from thinking that men knew better because women were less-than. Consider that, when you debate trans people's rights to exist in society.

Most people I know think women should have a right to financial independence, to make their own healthcare decisions, to divorce their spouse without the humiliating and highly difficult process of proving abuse or infidelity, to vote without providing a paper trail proving their name change.

Are you actually listening to trans people? Or are you deciding what you think is best for them because you view their opinions as less objective? Are you weighing cis people's discomfort as more important than trans people's?
