Went to a Love Your Liver roadshow yesterday. The scan was very quick and easy. Good advice on healthy eating and drinking was freely given.

I used to think that Nantwich Workhouse was one of the better ones, until I read an anonymous letter from a pauper covering the brutality of the master and inhumanity of the regime in the workhouse, in 1839:

If you can get yourself to Bondies Bagels in Nantwich today, it's 10% off. It's a lovely new cafe, opposite Nantwich Museum and near the train station. Their home-made pistachio croissants are excellent.

Yesterday I was due to have Wake Surgery, to have a Malignant Brain Tumour removed. My operation was cancelled just a few hours before - because there were no beds! I have no idea when it now might be....

One of my favourite pubs in Nantwich, the Red Cow, has just reopened after an 8 week refurbishment. They have done a lovely job, keeping all the historic features and at the same time improving this lovely pub.

I had a problem with a blocked sewer this weekend. I contacted United Utilities, who are responsible for the street drains where the blockage was. They couldn't give me an appointment until December!
