So excited to share our new article on energy limiting conditions (ELC) and energy impairment in @ijdsj.bsky.social with Anna Ruddock and Ana Be. Open access www.scienceopen.com/hosted-docum...
It discusses the emancipatory research process that gave rise to these terms >>

The MAGA faithful won’t give two hoots about Trump’s involvement with Epstein because (this is critical) they don’t see teenage girls as children.

They see them as women.

My three year old granddaughter told me I was a “good grandma” yesterday. Now that’s approval of the highest order!

On masking in an ongoing pandemic that almost everyone is ignoring…
How masking changed everything
Existing in a pandemic that everyone is ignoring is rough. Being clinically vulnerable changes everything.

To every MP who gave Charlie Kirk a standing ovation in the House of Commons - shame on you.

The fact that members from every party did this is a gut punch.

He does not deserve to be celebrated and his toxic rhetoric has no place in Canadian politics, and especially not in OUR house.

Writing a bridal toast for an 84 year old woman and not having it sound like a eulogy is tough.

Covid is a novel virus. It’s not, and never was, just a cold.

We need to be humble and accept that five years is not enough time to know the true long term impacts.

That’s why I wear an N95. It’s why I practice the Precautionary Principle.

Any infection delayed or avoided is a win

Tough but important read. @mmughees.bsky.social chronicles racism she's experienced.

"Upon learning that we had recently moved into the neighbourhood, the cops informed us that one of our neighbours had called them, reporting that there were intruders in the area and that they felt threatened."

I, unfortunately, believe he is correct. I have never seen such a dry year.

Just gonna put a pin in this:

It's highly likely that Nova Scotia will soon explode in wildfire.

There will be some proximate cause of the fire: someone doing something dumb, carelessness, inattention, whatever. People will point to that proximate cause and want to cast blame.

But...

When a virus (Covid) has such a high asymptomatic transmission rate (40%+), masking when you feel sick is literally shutting the barn door after the horse has escaped.

If you’re ok with spreading a virus that can kill and disable others, knowingly or unknowingly, fine. Now you know.

Accommodations for disabled people can be implemented. Covid proved that. Watching them disappear in a world that embraced them for a short time has been heartbreaking.

Also, masks are an accessibility aid.
Accommodations and the Pandemic
In the Spring of 2020, the world shut down in response to the emergence of SARS-CoV-2 as a global pandemic. For those of us who had been paying attention, this wasn’t a surprise. We had seen the virus...

Say what?

This is truly the worse timeline.
