I made a Hemingway pouch for my mom! It was my first time working with a zipper. It was fairly easy, even for me. I see more gifts for people in the future!

My darling stepdaughter sent me photos of the quilt in use. They bring me so much joy! They live very far away but I like feeling like a piece of me is near them.

First sawtooth star block! 🩷💜

My second attempt at an Ohio Star block went a bit better. I’ll need a lot more practice to align the points but it’s fun trying!

Skill building before I begin my next project! My first flying geese and first Ohio Star. I’m learning a lot and think I have a better idea of how to get the points to align on my next try after speaking to my quilting friend. Grateful for the Kaffe Fasset fabrics she gifted me. 🩷💜🧡

Quilt number 2 is bound and washed! I learned a lot making this quilt. The quilting lines were a real struggle for me at first but got little better as I went along and slowed down. I also did better with binding this time. I’ll try to get a better overall shot later.

I made a test quilt with some left over blocks to test wavy lines and thread colors. I think I can space them out more but the waves might be fun and beachy for my beach blanket! Any advise?

The quilt top is complete! Let the basting begin! Feeling very intimidated just now. Considering sending this out to be long armed. 🧡💛🩵

Half a quilt top done! I’m going to start working on the other half and then piece the two halves together as this is getting a little large for me to work with. The seams aren’t perfect but I’m learning a lot as I go and it’s a nice distraction from the world.

Ok! The blocks are made. There is a lot of sewing ahead of me but I think it will be a fun quilt. I was considering diagonal lines for the quilting but I’d love suggestions.

Making progress on my second ever quilt project. It will be a picnic/beach blanket quilt. The colors and making are a balm for me. I learned two new skills today, using a leader/ender and chain piecing.

Ok! It’s finished! My very first quilt ever. Don’t look too closely, the binding looks like a car crash. But it’s ready for my grandbaby!

I finished my very first quilt top for our granddaughter born 3
Days ago! I’m exploding with joy even though I’m just the step grandma.
I’ve leaned to sew and quilt all
In one go.
