Confession: usually my birthday sucks. I've had people pass away, broken my leg, etc. experiences for my birthday for 50+ years.
Yesterday I was given a free breakfast, had great visits w/friends & family, & the Northern Lights showed up.
I'm confused, lol.

I have taken 100's of these in the last 12 years and still I take them bc the colors are just amazing.

Vacation was a very much needed break from life but the drive home is kicking my ass. I'm too old for this. Alas, the grandkids had a sting desire to see their first beach.

At least he has his back to me most of the time. Lol A perk of living on the Missouri River is seeing these majestic peeping toms come back. Growing up, the largest birds were the Turkey Vultures.

Why? Just...why? I saw this Friday on the way to that the grandkid to her lesson and I was so dumbfounded. Luckily we were at a red light so I handed her my phone & she snapped the image for me. Still, the thought process that went into them picking it AND Arkansas DMV approval of it 🤷🤦.

This handsome chap & I (the old lady on the right) won some ribbons yesterday. It was his very first show ever. My second ever Dressage show & only my third run in a real dressage saddle (as opposed to the all purpose one). 1 first & 2 seconds. Not bad,not bad. #dressage

We had kittens yesterday. Including this little boy who is the carbon copy of his mama. His mama was found in a box on the road, along with the male that caused the kittens... People would rather dump than spay or neuter. Now 3 more kittens are in the world.

Look what Aldi has!!! Stainless steel insulated bottles. Your choice of Hocus Pocus, Nightmare Before Christmas, or the story by She Who Will Not Be Named. I wanted the NBC one but it was lavender, so the granddaughter claimed it first.

Found this beauty flitting around the Plumbago today. Some times, I have to stop and make myself look for the beautiful things to stop the flood of awful coming out of the White House. This was today's.

This once abandoned mare has become this little girls best bud. Tink follows her around, nose barely touching her back. She does anything this child asks, calmly & politely. Tink has taught her patience, resilience, determination, & given her unconditional love. #ponys

Had a great ride on Bell today. Naturally he was paid in carrots, apples, and his favorite, a banana. He noshed them so fast I didn't get a video, lol. He so smart, too smart. He's my first OTTB & I adore him. Here he is dozing in front of the fan after a rinse. #OTTB #Dressage

1h 45min to get Bell "clean". Lol We did some ground work using the TRT method w/a focus on his anxiety. Then free time to investigate, explore, & generally relax. Not every visit means riding.

Didn't get to play with Bell today bc this fellow coliced. I spent my time walking him as we waited for the vet, then playing vets helper. When the pain meds kicked in, he needed help holding his head up so he used my lap. Unfortunately, he is now in his way to MU bc he might need surgery. ☹️

Recovering from the Sleepy Juice he received so he could get injections. #OTTB problems like arthritis require constant monitoring. He's 15 now but still spicy & strong. I'd like to keep him that way!

Today's lesson was super HOT. After his shower, I gave Bell a horsicle to make sure he gets hydration. Carrots & Apples frozen in water makes a great treat, hydration, snack, & mental stimulation. Yes, he did give himself a slurpy burn, but he kept coming back!

I lost Orrie on December 31. Since then I've been riding a retired OTTB eventer bc he was the only "sort of Dressage" horse. Below is the new prospect. He's 15, registered, & well muscled despite being off a while bc his mom travels a lot for work. Cross your fingers! #dressage
