Answer: Luis Cessa! Active from ‘16-‘23, in 2024 he was a part of the KCR & PIT. A yank from ‘16-‘21, he became a Yank when a trade between DET & NYY brought him and Chad Green over here for Justin Wilson. In 8 years Cessa has tossed 425 Inn, 331 K’s, in 35 game starts & 208 total games played in.

Answer: Jackson/Clint Frazier! Active from ‘17-‘23, he is currently an unsigned free agent and is not retired. Drafted in the 1st round and 5th overall, this man had quite the collection of cleats & an above average bat speed that impressed many. Concussions seemed to follow him.

Answer: Starlin Castro! Active from ‘10-‘21, he came to the Yanks from the CHC in a return package that sent Adam Warren & Brendan Ryan to the Cubs. After having two great seasons in pinstripes, he was sent over to MIA with two other players for Big G.

Answer: LYLE OVERBAY! This LHB had a career 16.5 WAR, 1355 Hits, 151 HRs, and a .266 BA in 5102 AB. He led the league with 53 doubles for the Brewers in 2004. In 2011 he played against the Brewers in the NLDS & went 0/4. He was a part of a trade between ARI & MIL involving Sexson

Answer: Ramon Flores. Active from ‘15-‘17 this LHB was signed as an amateur FA by the Yankees and played in 12 games in 2015 for us before going on to play for MIL & then LAA. The 2016 MIL team gave him a full time position where he showed up in the OF.

Answer: Kevin Brown. Active from ‘86-‘05, he was with the Yanks in ‘04-‘05, posting a 4.95 ERA. The former 2x ERA title winner posted a 21.60 ERA in 3.1 IP in two games against BOS in the ‘04 ALCS and that is what he will forever be remember for.

Answer: Luis Sojo! Active from ‘90-‘03, he played for 5 teams in his career and was an ultimate utility man. Hitting a career 36 homers, he was always a reliable pinch hitter in the post season. A member of the Venezuelan Baseball HoF, in the 2000 World Series he turned into a hero.

Answer: Bobby Murcer! Active from ‘65-‘82, he was a Yankee for 1256 games and 3 PA short of 5k. He was traded for Bobby Bonds in OCT of ‘74 which had fans reeling. This beloved broadcaster and player passed away on July 12th 2008, joining legendary teammates like Mantle & Munson.

Answer: Joe Sewell! This LHB was active from 1920-1933, winning 2 WS, one his rookie year with CLE & one his second to last year with the Yankees in 1932. With a career 59 HRs & a BA of .312, he was elected into the HOF in 1977 by a veterans committee.

Answer: Cory Gearrin!: active from 2011-2020, he was out of the majors in ‘14 season & played for 7 teams in his 9 year career. Joining the Yankees in August 2019, he had a 4.5 ERA in 18 games tossing 14 IP before playing for MIN in a shortened 2020 season.

Answer: Jim Bower!: active from ‘99-‘07, he played in 354 games and started only in 28. With a career 33/32 wins he was a Yankee in ‘07 where he threw only 3.1 IP and only 1 K. With a career 4.67 ERA, in 2005 he led the league in Games where he was in 89 of them.

With a career 218 HRs, this man was a 2x All-Star, and a Home Run Derby Champion in 2015. He ranked 3rd in RoY in 2012.

Answer: Charlie Hayes! Active from ‘88-‘01, this man grabbed us the last out of the ‘96 World Series! His son Ke’Bryan Hayes is a PIT 3rd baseman. Hitting 144 Career HRs, Hayes hit 45 Doubles in ‘93 for COL, and 72 XBH in that same year! Glad all of you remembered this legend!

Answer: Gary Sheffield! Active from ‘88-‘09, a 22 year career that spanned 8 teams, he posted a 60.5 WAR, 509 HRs & a BA of .292. Winning 5 SS, he won 3 consecutively from age 34-36 where he ranked 3rd, 2nd & 8th in MVP. In 2024 he received 63.9% of the HoF vote despite being 37th all time in oWAR.

A 4.14 ERA in 11 games & 9 starts for the Yanks, he tossed 54.1 IP. He went on to post a 7.7 WAR the following year for TEX.

Answer: Shawn Chacón! Active from ‘01-‘08, he became a Yankee in ‘05 where he posted the 4th highest WAR among our pitchers which isn’t saying much. This trade acquisition in his first half season with us posted a 2.85 ERA & a 3.1 WAR in 14 games. He was traded to the Pirates for Craig Wilson in ‘06

Answer: Brett Gardner! Active from ‘08-‘21, this man came up clutch in WC games with a career .995 ops in 6 games. Ranking 18th in all time career leaders as a Yankee in WAR for, above Posada, with 44.3. He is also 8th all time in triples with 73, 1 above Mantle himself.

Answer: Ron Guidry ! Active from ‘75-‘88, he played his entire career with the Yankees. Winning the CY in ‘78 where he tossed 273.2 IP to a 1.74 ERA, 9.6 WAR, 25 wins, & 9 shutout games. The 4x AS had 5 gold gloves, 2 ERA titles in a row. He ranked top 7 in CY 6 times.

Answer: Lefty Gomez! The HoF, 2x Triple Crown, 2x ERA title, 7x AS, 6x WS champ, was active from 1930-1943. Winning his two ERA titles in ‘34 & ‘37 with a 2.33 era both times, he pitched a total of 50 Complete Games, 12 shutouts, 560 IP & 352 Ks in those two years alone!!!!

Answer: Mickey Mantle! Active from ‘51-‘68, this lifelong Yankee had an OPS of 1.000+ 4x consecutively, TWICE! This absolute force of a switch hitting batter struggled with injuries which cut his career short but achieved nothing short of greatness.
