Arriving into Dublin Airport to see a recruitment advertisement for social care workers. These are the very people whose families the new Irish immigration policy seeks to tear apart. Not to mention the cruel irony of using photos of kids as promo.

Facial recognition systems are approx 200 times more likely to misidentify a black woman than a white man. Not that we didn’t already know this but let’s see if it stops a nationwide UK rollout. www.theguardian.com/technology/2... cc @abeba.bsky.social

As of now, there is no condemnation of this attack from anyone - spokesperson, Minister, PR - in government. (This comes after the attack on a Brazilian man, where he was left with bleeding on the brain.) The gov are playing with fire and they know it. Shameful.
Asylum seekers have told of how they were followed by men on motorcycles before being subjected to an alleged attack in rural Co Dublin yesterday.

The incident – which saw the young men beaten and their car windows smashed – has been condemned.

This is interesting in light of Harris’ recent tirade against immigrants and O'Callaghan’s proposed changes to immigration policy.

Fully support the healthcare assists. The Irish government is happy to have them
as “non-critical” workers so their families cannot join them for 12 months or more, unlike those whose work is deemed “critical”. How is healthcare work not critical to how we live today?

In the #UK gov announcement on #immigration today, rich people will get settled status after three years but the poor and marginalised will have to wait **20-30** years. #Labour once again doing their very best to promote #inequality.

I wonder what cruelties the UK gov will engage in next? Their scapegoating will end up helping absolutely no one. (1/2)

This headline beggars belief… until you read the HSE response: “… the waiting time has now been reduced to 10 years”. These are not timelines that any well funded health service should be working with.
