Nine and a half years ago, a brief interaction with Bernie unlocked a wave of repressed feelings about what it’s like to live in America as an Iranian first-gen immigrant.
It hits even harder in hindsight.

Trust me: it’s worth a few minutes of every American’s time. Even you.

It’s kind of crazy seeing people losing their minds over BlueSky moderation taking action on violent jokes or violent implications. It doesn’t matter that it’s about bad people, rules have to be applied consistently. Otherwise you get things like Facebook’s “no hate speech except transphobia.”

This is why Zohran as mayor of NYC is so terrifying to them. They know that once he proves it works there, all excuses are gone for doing it everywhere.
NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

Tax the rich. Greg Ryan in @bloomberg.com:
Millionaire Tax That Inspired Mamdani Fuels $5.7 Billion Haul in Massachusetts
A millionaire levy in Massachusetts that New York City mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani holds up as a model for taxing the rich has generated $3 billion more in revenue than expected without forcing...

Let it burn me to life.

NIH Director Bhattacharya makes a damning admission, thinks it’s an own:

“Absent considerable intentional tinkering by the developers, any LLM trained using @wikipedia as an input will output nonsense biased against conservatives on any remotely controversial political topic.”

Gives the game away.

a visual novel dating sim but the characters are all famous drag queens

the twist is that the game versions of all of them are sassy dragons

it would be a bunch of anthro dragons in drag draggin' each other competing for you :3

the tagline would be "this time, the dragons are doing the slaying"

Currently watching the leaked “500 Days in UCLA” documentary. It’s surreal seeing so much footage of the last days of “old Kanye.” In a way, I’ve wanted to see this kind of behind the scenes material about him for ages, but this version of him is so far gone at this point.

The timing of the new Kanye news is very interested, but as a long-time Kanye studier who’s hoped he’d right his path for years, I have to say: actions speak louder than words.

This is much bigger than something that just an apology to a rabbi can fix. He needs to stop talking and start doing.

I really don't understand why Stephen King has gotten a lifetime pass for how often his work focuses on the brutalization and sexualization of children.

My first video essay is planned to be "Ye and the American Dream: How Society Failed Kanye West and Created Ye."

It's going to be my take as an ex-KW fan on the details behind his ego and stubbornness, and how society's reception of him and his neurodivergence pushed him into the alt-right.

remember when Hillary tried to joke off being late to a Black audience that she was "running on CP time"
remember her saying she "carried hot sauce in her bag"
remember "super-predators"
remember "we'll obliterate [Iran]"
remember her general foreign policy

but yeah, I was "just being a misogynist"

Pretty much all affordability discourse could benefit from just posting this chart.

If you're in the better off America, all the luxury goods you want in excess are for the most part much cheaper. If you're in the poorer America, most of the shit you need to live/grow is more expensive.
