WOTC seems schizophrenic to me. With their PHB they were pushing a very soft, joyful, safe space kind of game, for a system where 80% of the rules are about combat and dealing damage. The new DMG and MM seem more in keeping with the tone of game I've played since middle school. #dnd #dnd5e #roll20

One of those game sessions where two players hear there's a bathhouse in the city so they demand to go, not knowing there's a Water Weird there so they end up in a battle with no weapons and, er, Armor Class Ten. #dungeonsanddragons #roll20 #prodm #dnd #dnd5e #ravenloft #har-akir #weirdestfight

Another game listing: diving into the Greyhawk setting from the new Dungeon Masters Guide. A big, sanboxy campaign with no pre-planned megaplot and emphasis on downtime activities such as the new bastion rules. Link on my page. #dnd #dnd5e #dungeonsanddragons #roll20 #ttrpg #startplayinggames

More Bill (Fables) Willingham art from the days of AD&D: from the "Descent Into The Depths of the Earth" module, the Drow are defending Spider-Man's treasure chest, which contains Iron Man's earlier helmet and Captain America's shield. #dnd #dnd5e #roll20 #dungeonsanddragons #marvel #marvelcomics

Another game listed on Roll20: "Mists of Lamordia", a Ravenloft setting described in Van Richten's Guide. Cobblestone streets, flintlocks and science unhindered by morality. You can find the Roll20 listing on my profile. #dungeonsanddragons #roll20 #dnd #dnd5e #roleplayinggame #ravenloft #lamordia

Outgunned is the game for tonight! Probably the most chaotic and out of control game I have attempted to manage. The DM has no control here, and it's a blast. Running it on the Alchemy vtt. #alchemy #alchemyvtt #outgunnedrpg #prodm #dungeonmaster #gamemaster #roll20 #dnd5e #twolittlemice #actionhero

Wrapped up a Dragonbane conversion of COS that was a success! Moving on to a nautical game but still dipping into Ravenloft's Sea of Sorrows setting. "Sea of Storms" on Roll20, if you'd like to see how adventuring mallards fare in Davy Jones' locker. #dragonbane #roll20 #ttrpg #dnd #dnd5e #ravenloft

Somebody's gotta tell me if there's a place where all the old D&D comic book ads drawn by future comic writer Bill Willingham have been compiled. #comicbook #dnd #ad&d #dnd5e #billwillingham #roll20 #dungeonsanddragons #fables #ttrpg

My favorite thing to insert into a d&d game: the Magic Mouth which appears on an unlocked door and spouts a nonsense riddle with no answer. The group will argue about the meaning of the riddle for 45 minutes before they realize they can open the door and walk through. #dnd #dnd5e #roll20 #WOTC

My favorite part about the D&D 2024 rulebooks: removing the phrase "until you finish a long rest" from the effects of certain monster attacks in the Monster Manual. Suddenly my players are afraid of monsters again! #ttrpg #dungeonsanddragons #dnd #dnd5e #roll20 #monstermanual #roleplayinggame

My favorite non-d&d role-playing game, with a flavor much more like the old school games I grew up with. It's tough to get non-5e games filled on roll20, so it's a pleasure when I'm able to squeeze one of these into my schedule. #roll20 #ttrpg #dragonbane #dungeonsanddragons #dnd #ad&d #dnd5e

One of the earliest campaigns I ran online; a modern reimagining of one of the earliest mega dungeons, equal parts hilarious and creepy. Just leave out the bit about the cults, it's a huge distraction from The Manor itself. Gearing up to run it again! #dungeonsanddragons #roll20 #dnd #dnd5e #ttrpg

This curmudgeon was very pleased with this book! Particularly the bastion rules that give players something to do with the treasure they accumulate instead of simply expecting to buy magic items, which I typically don't allow in games since that makes them feel much less special. #dnd #dnd5e #dmg
