Dropping knees between NH 🇺🇸 and CH 🇨🇭
I have the same feeling about this book. I read it, meh, and then it haunted me for a long while after.

Oh yeah! The family used to let people land on the beach and use the trails, hopefully they still do- beautiful cliffs with crystal clear water on the western side, I wanted to go jumping but didn't have time. Great place
Pic from 2014?, last time there

Great writing, hooked me tight.

Also recommend The Caine Mutiny by the same author, a little more manageable

Feeling down on life so I went for a row. The flower is pickerel weed and it was absolutely chock a block full of bumblebees, which have largely disappeared from the suburban landscape over the past 20yrs. Twas nice to see
Look at those yellow spots on one petal - interesting

48 linear feet of potatoes and this is the entire harvest. We mounded with extra straw we had laying around instead of soil and that was a big mistake. The straw became Rodent Central Tunnel, they took everything.

It's 1830 in high summer on the New England coast and I can stare into the sun and not cast a shadow like a vampire. We're so cooked (literally and figuratively)

Hey @mitchvtwx.bsky.social do you know why there always seems to be a dry slot over southern NH? Is it my imagination or do we always get skipped for storms?

Picked this up thanks to @boringposer.bsky.social suggesting it last year? Two years?
Used! Cheap!
Looking forward to it

Here's the list for this year. Much of the same as last year- she's "homing in on the ones that grow well and I like to use, the poblano never produces much though."

She is doing tomato beefsteak seed trials w/ Seed Savers Exchange this year! 3 diff types. Very exciting

I'm really impressed how quick people have normalized this.
"Oh it's smoke season"
That was not a thing in New England until 2018?ish. Now it's routine to have a hazed out sun and orange light on days with zero clouds cover. Photo from this morning

From "Winds of War" by Herman Wouk
(Incredible read in relation to our current era, just flabbergasting)

Central NH popped hard last week

Wake up babe, the best way of sorting books just dropped
May 10, 2025 at 4:20 PM
Astonishingly relevant during this current time of tumult and pathetic rationalization of immorality. Wouk was a powerhouse in the 20th and he should be required reading in the 21st.
WoW is the lead up to Pearl Harbor, WaR Pearl Harbor to the end.
My BP is through the roof reading these. A+

Nice! Got to get a second- I got recommended these two last year by @boringposer.bsky.social, still on my list, will advance.

I bought a small vineyard plot last month because I walked into it and felt such a presence of positive woo-woo that I couldn't deny. This parcel is the key to something else in my life that has yet to be revealed. I know this.
I went to look at it as a joke and walked away transfixed.

I do this. Really. I have a steel cowbell strapped onto my belt. On crowded cat tracks I can jingle it with my thumb and it parts people like I'm Moses. When I'm in bumps or the woods people can hear me coming. My friends have them too, it's very helpful for echolocation in fog/trees. Not joking
