I love toys and cartoons and all sorts of fun stuff that inspires the worlds I create. This is a repro of a 1920s “googly” doll I found today. I’ll spare you most of the history but they’re tied closely to early women cartoonists and even suffragists. Howsabout that? #doll #womenshistory

The most impressive part of the Joe Camel ad campaign was that it made a bunch of middle schoolers wish they were a 40-something-year-old man. Look at those crow’s feet! Dude celebrates his birthday every month to distract from his real age, too. I bet he flips out every time he finds a grey hair.

Milton Clark clowning around. Done in the style of 1930s children’s book covers for fun. His story isn’t really kid friendly at all though. #amwriting #amdrawing

Trans week of visibility was last week but I’m sharing this meme I drew anyhow. Popeye may be the greatest cartoon character of all time.

There’s some cool comics history behind this pic but I’m too lazy ti write it all out right now.

So are there #authors besides me on #BookSky who post a lot of illustrations of their characters or am I gonna be all alone out here (again) while everyone else posts aesthetic pictures of their #novels surrounded by flowers?

Anyhow, here’s Smoky Smooth, one bad beer chuggin’, chain smokin’ dude.

The characters in one of my WIP books have particularly atrocious names. This guy is Ash Trae. His friends are Lucky, Piper, Winston, and Smoky. Har har har di har. Bad idea, probably! But the names are permanent fixtures in my brain, so they’re staying.

A local toy store had old POP displays next to their dumpster. For those who don’t run a small business, cardboard displays like this are expensive as hell! It’s cheaper (and better for the environment!) to recycle old ones. My books look as snug as a bug in a rug. I just need to redecorate it…
