I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

Excellent LiveScience article! Glad to be a part of locating the 'ELIZA' code, but I can attest that the papers were not “dusty,” as reported. Materials may come in dusty (or moldy, smelly, etc), but processing archivists work to address this before sharing records with the public.

Workers, reformers, and unions fought, bled, and died through the Gilded Age and into the first 3 decades of the 20th century to get this idyllic era of blue collar industrial work in the post-WWII era that people on both sides of the aisle keep pointing to, without acknowledging the sacrifice.

Dinner w/5 former colleagues; all mothers of adult kids; 4 started as print journalists; then pr/news office writers & scicomm; all learned publishing/web software; then all pushed into freelance; now concerned AI will take work. Who benefits if AI forces writers & esp women out of the profession?
