A big loss.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

Pope Leo XIV has blasted how wealthy people live in a “bubble of comfort and luxury” while the poor suffer. In his first teaching document Thursday, Leo confirms that he is in perfect lockstep with Pope Francis on matters of social injustice.

No solidarity. Reporters let Trump talk this way to a woman reporter and then clamor to get their own question answered. He used to do it to April Ryan, Yamiche Alcindor and Abby Phillip.

And that’s why he controls media. No solidarity.

I've clung to grim belief that 1968 would be darkest year I'd see in US. Horrific assassinations. Real (not show) military occupation in DC. Tet and MyLai. 'Police Riot' in Chicago. Nixon/Agnew.

Not so certain any more. Back then 2 parties still functioned. A prez could resign for "good of nation"

Monthly reminder: Many people have a book in them, but it takes a special kind of freak to leave the Land of Laziness, cross the Plains of Procrastination and Insecurity Mountain, find the Blade of No One Made You Do This, and use it to cut your chest open and yank that book out.

Bingo.
Elites and institutions have not “collapsed.” They have not “changed their tunes.” They have not “failed.” They are not “cowards.”

They were and are simply been focused only on their own self-preservation and profit.

Nothing has changed. They simply made a cost benefit analysis, and fascism wins.

Many big & alarming stories last week marking an acceleration in the unraveling of this country, but one not getting enough outrage is Trump accusing former President Obama of treason. Despicable, sick, unconscionable. A major line-crossing action that warranted loud & widespread denunciation.

Beyond belief, and more blaming/shaming by the media. To Tapper and Todd: 'Get rid of your ego and be an empathetic journalist'.
This discussion is beyond belief - so smug, so arrogant - a shamefully thin attempt to “sum up” the life of a man whose complex journey neither clearly possesses the personal depth to evaluate.

It’s so weird in tone & expression. You don’t have to love Biden to be embarrassed by this drivel.
With everything going on today, THIS is what this individual was focused on putting out. May we never ever be in proximity of each other.

Might some intrepid reporter ask Bondi this?
Why is ICE arresting employees but not employers? DOJ policy is to charge the most culpable people. The employers would seem to qualify.

- Is Gavin running?
- Doesn't Trump look strong!

Writing stories that insist that there is order in the chaotic mind and actions of powerful white men is an actual beat at our most influential media institutions.

This is correct.
The white men fantasizing about the return of American manufacturing don’t actually think they or their kids will be working in the factories. This is their American individual idealism at work: they believe there will always be someone else working hard for their benefit

"Meanwhile Donna had a baby boy..." on the middle of page 3! I wasn't the lede in a letter my dad wrote a friend, four months after my birth, but I cherish the full written account of how he celebrated becoming a birth father for the first time. Many cigars were given away that April Fools' night.

Excellent LiveScience article! Glad to be a part of locating the 'ELIZA' code, but I can attest that the papers were not “dusty,” as reported. Materials may come in dusty (or moldy, smelly, etc), but processing archivists work to address this before sharing records with the public.

Workers, reformers, and unions fought, bled, and died through the Gilded Age and into the first 3 decades of the 20th century to get this idyllic era of blue collar industrial work in the post-WWII era that people on both sides of the aisle keep pointing to, without acknowledging the sacrifice.

Don’t be down: Trump has not grown any more savvy or competent, even less so somehow, and while he’s surrounding himself with more lunatic people, they aren’t very savvy or competent either. He’s starting as a nearly 80 year-old lame-duck, with a trifecta, sure, but little wiggle room in Congress 1/
