THIS!!! imagine if the amount of fic gushing that happened in discord groups happened in AO3 comment sections, authors would be showered with more love than they knew what to do with. Nothing wrong with squealing with friends but pls make sure you share that same excitement with the creators!
I think a big fandom shift in interacting with stuff has gone from people commenting under the created thing whether it be fic or art to people linking it in private discord groups where the person who made it will never see any positive comments left on the thing they made.
