Ratcliffe is an embarrassment. Why would anyone help the CIA ever again if they knew that someone like him would throw them under the bus at the first opportunity?
Once CIA saw itself as above politics. But Ratcliffe is a political animal. CIA trained the shooter to kill and evacuated him and tens of thousands of others who served the US in Afghanistan. They will now be collectively punished by the POTUS who signed a surrender agreement with the Taliban.

Thanksgiving in Mauritania a few years later, I gathered with eight or nine PCVs and a pair of embassy folks in search of adventure. We roasted a pea hen, and a baker on the team made pie. We drank ourselves stupid on smuggled Senegalese gin, and the embassy folks dropped $50 to make it happen.

Maybe I’ll tell y’all about Thanksgiving in Uzbekistan, where I was in the peace corps 2000-2001.
I lived in a town; nearest American lived in a qishloq - a true village. A few of us somehow figured out to meet there. (How? No internet, no phones. No recollection of how we planned anything.) 1/

No reason to believe this was a false flag operation but something like this was obviously contemplated as part of Trump’s dry run for when he seizes total power. Deployment of National Guard to DC was phase 1 of the dry run. Now we get to see phase 2. www.nytimes.com/live/2025/11...

The $2000 rebate checks “are a budgetary shell game. Tariffs have already cost American families nearly that much — an average of $1,800 .. Don’t look for logic here. There is none.”

I will repeat this every single day for the next three years: Any Democrat running for president in 2028 must pledge to immediately tear down/bulldoze/demolish Trump’s ballroom and fully restore the East Wing and any other piece of the People’s House Trump has or will destroy.

@mattyglesias.bsky.social Just read your 11 takeaways. Two things: the margins for Spanberger and Sherrill were nearly identical, 14.6% for Spanberger, 13% for Sherrill. And candidate quality on the other side also matters: Ciattarelli was a much stronger opponent than Earle-Sears.

@popville.bsky.social While everyone has been focused on the White House tear down, no one seems to have paid any attention to the act of vandalism Trump is carrying out at the Kennedy Center. 3/4 of the columns have now been painted over. It looks hideous.

Sometimes the symbolism feels like it’s just too obvious; too much on the nose.

Trump is vandalizing the White House to build his gaudy Liberace-on-steroids ballroom, using cash from his serial shakedowns of the rich and spineless.
