Yesterday was one of those incredible days at the office.

This weekend’s enlightening moment - destroying ikea furniture (especially with a hammer) is infinitely more satisfying than building it.

So I went to the Belgian Grand Prix last weekend with my zoom lense. Quite pleased with some of these.

2024-25 ✅
A very challenging year with so many ups and downs but I’ll remember it for a long time. Big plans for Music next year but time to put the feet up.
Best wishes for the summer!!

The Planets ✅
It’s not often you get to play such huge pieces in an amateur orchestra, and it was a privilege to be part of one today. I’ll remember that scrub for a long time. Thank you to @martinsmith.bsky.social and @rorchestra.bsky.social for making it happen.

There’s very little more satisfying as a viola player than slow crotchets on bottom G and C marked molto pesante!

Signs of you getting old Ep.46(ish)….having to teach the moves of the Macarena to Y11s at their prom.

Highlight of the week just gone:

“I liked your assembly, Sir. At least it wasn’t as boring as the others.”

Tough audience. 😅

Always fun to play Rhapsody in Blue again, a piece that goes straight into my classical desert island disc.
Thank you to everyone who braved torrential rain to come out and attend our concert last night. We hope you had as fun as we did.

Designed a Year 8 scheme of work around Danse Macabre to try and squeeze some romantic period music into their diet. Now it’s time to ride the ride.

Levels of geek-ness….rising….

My office is still pretty decent this week. #DofEGold

There’s something incredible about seeing young people doing things they never thought they could do. The DofE award is still well worth investing time and effort. Sunshine in Eryri is an added bonus.

@martinsmith.bsky.social if we’re doing Mediterranean themed music next year - Pines of Rome?

@martinsmith.bsky.social re: Michael Giacchino (incredible composer the more I explore) - I’ll see your Incredibles and raise you with Ratatouille. There’s a case for arguing it’s even better! youtu.be/UP8OO7g07B4?...

This is reassuring news and the club survives…for now. Some thoughts:
1. The board had to go. Too many collective mistakes
2. Holland’s position untenable?
3. The fact it was WRU’s own outsourced due diligence is an irony not lost on me.
4. Helford have some serious questions to answer.
A brief summary of all the headlines;

- Cardiff Rugby go into administration and are bought out of it by the Welsh Rugby Union
- Alun Jones is no longer Chair, the WRU wants “someone of stature”
- The current Cardiff board has also gone and the WRU will look to replace it

So proud to have had our Music Dept play its part in such a fantastic production. Some stand out performances on stage and in the band. Same time, same place next year?

No, we don’t know what next year’s show will be yet!
