A crisp and perfect December afternoon in Boise

Spontaneous run/rollerskate/e-bike with my nephew and his folks on the greenbelt. It’s easy to have a good time outside with your people in Boise.

An important @propublica.org and @highcountrynews.org investigation that adds a lot of evidence to the often heard argument that Western ranching is a welfare program that principally benefits the biggest operators www.hcn.org/issues/57-12...

Loving couples ripped apart while a convicted cocaine trafficker who used the Honduran presidency to enrich himself is pardoned. A @nytimes.com front page for our strange times.

So profoundly cruel. Not far off from arresting someone at the altar. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/26/u...

Definitely stop at the Malad gorge next time you’re not in a rush

I came to the community memorial for the young girl killed walking across Boise’s Harrison blvd. I’ve seen several individuals and families - some close to the family - stop in silent grief or remembrance. Lit candles ring the base of the tree, and a child sobs. I am so sad for everyone around her.

This is non-renewal data, but again sorted by 2024 policy count, so same caution as above. But I will again direct your attention to Caldwell, where we see a hard to believe 24% single-year non-renewal rate in 2023. A quarter of the homeowners insurance market disappeared in one of the city’s zips
October 22, 2025 at 6:02 PM
This is the top 19 zips in terms of avg premium, NOT AVG CHANGE, meaning there are all but certainly many zips with similar or even worse jumps elsewhere. But look at canyon county: a 335% jump in admittedly small Huston, AND 112% in Caldwell IN TWO YEARS.
