2017 Murch had a pretty decent take on Scaling:

It’s only a soft fork when it’s from the rough consensus region of the Bitcoin Community. Otherwise it’s just a sparkling majority attack.

I heard yesterday that someone thought the Bitcoin Developer mailing list was dead.

In case you missed it: The Bitcoin Developer mailing list migrated to googlegroups.

GM,

Affect vs. Effect

As verbs:
• _Affect_ means "to produce an effect upon".
• _Effect_ means "to cause to come into being" or "accomplish."

Usually _effect_ is used as a noun to mean "a change that results when something happens".

GM,
Bitcoin invoice addresses don’t exist at the protocol level. Addresses are just a shorthand notation for output scripts that is exclusively used out-of-band at the user level in wallets, explorers, or invoices.

How to be a Bitcoiner:
Step 1 - decide that you are a Bitcoiner.
Step 2 (optional) - inform people that you're a genuine and authorized Bitcoiner.

Who's going to tell you otherwise, when it's you that defines what Bitcoin is per the rules that the software you run enforces?

There are 135 million poor and low-income people in the USA, the richest country on earth.
It’s an avoidable situation: study after study shows that securing basic living needs would reduce the overall economic toll e.g. per improving resulting health and educational outcomes.

📣Official statement: the new EU chat controls proposal for mass scanning is the same old surveillance with new branding.

Whether you call it a backdoor, a front door, or “upload moderation” it undermines encryption & creates significant vulnerabilities
