When someone brings charges against freelancers contracted out by ICE, does the government give them a shield from civil liability? Or do they pay out of pocket? They’re not federal employees necessarily, so I’m wondering what exactly their liability is in these circumstances

i have said this before but when “getting rid of race in admissions” for the administration means “you can’t even try to reach out to underrepresented communities and encourage them to apply and if you do it is illegal discrimination against white people” then the actual goal here is segregation

The free speech activist who built a list of professors he worked to get fired for their speech must be celebrated for his support of free speech, and anyone who quotes his speech accurately in context will be fired and/or face state punishment by the champions of free speech, do I have that right?

Abolish ICE is 100x more viable than Defund the Police is. Rhetorically speaking

"Abolish ICE" and "defund the police" are both reasonable and correct on the merits but were absolutely neutered by centrists smearing them as radical activist overreach.
"ICE is a rogue federal agency operating with impunity-destabilizing families, terrorizing neighborhoods, and eroding the very principles of justice it claims to defend. What happened yesterday ... is not an accident-it is the deliberate outcome of a system sliding deeper into authoritarianism."
Providence City Councilor Justin Roias: “Yesterday, ICE tased & detained a Providence resident with a pregnant U.S. citizen wife & a green card interview that same day.”

in the spirit of self-crit: in past years I have certainly been among those who have been vocally skeptical of the role of law and lawyers in meaningfully constraining armed agents of the state. but I do think we have to hand it to lawyers at this time
By my count, there had been 103 lawsuits filed in the last 20 days, and judges had issued 50 restraining orders requiring the Trump administration to reverse the terminations. Those decisions came in more than 23 states. www.politico.com/news/2025/04...
