Unironically -- I think one of the hardest things for us to process is how cartoonish our current crop of villains are. I think, I must be missing something?
At the same time, I see now that the more complex a society becomes, the more effectively it selects for pure amoral Machiavellians.

These are the same Javelin missiles that were the main subject of the 2019 phone call between Trump/Zelensky, for which Trump was IMPEACHED and nearly convicted.

I think this is exactly backwards. Trump didn’t reshuffle the world order; a new world order created him.
Republicans are lining up to denounce Zelensky because their base was seduced by a cranky old racist with a fondness for dictators. Just wild how the whims, prejudices, and weird obsessions of a senile 78-year-old have completely supplanted the party’s priorities — and reshuffled the world order.
