Picture shows a mud and stud smokehood exposed when the thatch was removed. It is made of timber and earth walling, but has been cut off below the ridge line. It originally served two fireplaces. The rafters and ridge-piece are much altered, but bits of the reed under-lining of the ceiling within survive

A photo of an ochre-daubed, single storey mud and stud cottage in Hacconby, with the front door flanked by windows and two raking dormer windows above. It is surrounded by bushes and has a pan-tiled roof. It is a very attractive cottage!

My favourite barn is at Bag Enderby in Lincolnshire. At least, the remains of it are. Grade II, but fading fast - the later photo was a few years ago, and more trusses have gone now. Mud and stud returning to the earth it literally came from, and the bricks are hardly daring any better...
A mud and stud barn in 2007. Pan tiled roof and seven bay open cart shed to the side. A beautiful day in summer, with harvested wheat field behind Aerial view of the same barn about 10 years later. The roof is completely gone and the interior is full of plants and trees. Four trusses of a mud and stud frame survived at that point, a year ago there were only two. I dread to think what is left now.

Both bands gathered at the end of the gig, discussing the ripeness of a wheel of Double Gloucester decorated with Gazpacho, the Longest Pony The Longest Pony in full voice, with Sebastia standing in and doing a great job! Marti defying physics and playing two recorders simultaneously
