I officially adopted my second rescue dog today (Cocoa, first photo), four months after I lost my 12yo Galla (second photo, on vacation in Canada last year), possibly due to a stroke. I miss Galla every day, and always will, but I was ready to get a new furry best friend and walking companion.

enduring majestic natural scenery and long-shuttered businesses and towns that went bust after newer roads, including I-80, bypassed them. Wallis notes: "I seek out those remaining ribbons of...concrete and asphalt...that remind...of a time before America was generic." #BookSky 3/3

Just completed my 51st book of 2025, a richly illustrated tabletop book I bought during a group tour of the #LincolnHighway Experience Museum located on the LH/Route 30 between #LatrobePA and #LigonierPA. Our experience was indeed great, including pie and coffee or tea in a refurbished diner. 1/3

Trump likely never read "The Great Gatsby" (or most books unless they're about him) so probably doesn't know what happens to Gatsby. Can't stop thinking about this Nick quote, one of my favorites, near the end:

One of the most memorable quotes from the book, as said by Nick at the end:

A couple hundred in Johnstown, in a red PA county. Was told by those at the June #NoKings protest that turnout was much larger today, plus peaceful. Many more honks from passing vehicles in support of us than drivers giving us their middle finger.

I'm among hundreds in downtown Johnstown (in a red PA county) this afternoon...hundreds here, and a LOT MORE HONKS in support than middle fingers to us. Folks who attended the June #NoKings rally told me there are a lot more protesters - all peaceful - today. @OfTheBraveUSA

women who live in a former pub called The Pale Horse and appear connected to a murder syndicate. A friend who goes undercover as an intended victim helps to discover the truth. A fitting tale for Halloween, but I'll take one of Christie's sleepy English village stories instead. 2/2 #BookSky

When it's learned she died bc of being allergic to peanuts, a random attack is ruled out. Who's the culprit? Her husband? Local vendors she had cowed and insulted? Max learns by listening and observing, and ID's the guilty before other lives are lost. 3/3 #BookSky

The book, an award winner and nominated for other awards, didn't "wow" me. The leads, Marianne and Connell, seem to reflect "When Harry Met Sally" quote that friends can't be lovers. Then the book ends abruptly, at least for me. Again, maybe a generational difference. 2/2 #BookSky
