There is constant ICE presence in Puerto Rico, though it also targeted differently than in the states, focusing more on Dominicans and Haitians which involves a different kind of racial profiling than what ICE does elsewhere.

And it's not just this. For decades Puerto Ricans have been fear mongered into believing statehood is the right choice. If there's things like carpeteo, the murdering of activists, propaganda, etc., of course people are gonna become silent. Because they were siLENCED.

I've used it in some spaces but feel it should never be the sole talking point. A lot of allies I've met think it's the only way to gain support from common people but i feel its not giving trans people space to express how this affects their own lives.
