I loved hearing Dr. Span’s perspective (and it was awesome to hear how the NPR folks wove the interviews / research together). Very excited to meet him this Fall at HES :)

Tangentially: I think listening to @michaelhobbes.bsky.social podcasts for the past few years has subconsciously shaped what I think a “podcasting voice” sounds like. Once I really start nerding out in Pt. 3 I think the Hobbesian affectations really come through. (I think this is a good thing?)

Also, if you aren’t following Throughline, you should sign up! They’re doing incredible work making the deep history of ongoing debates more accessible and understandable.

Beshear has been pretty outspoken, really, esp. relative to his Trumpy state
