NPR published a story 5 days ago about three high ranking Trump officials with clear ties to Hitler-admiring antisemites and it barely made a ripple. These are the kind of stories that used to end political careers. Now the subjects of the stories just hold up a middle finger and keep plowing ahead.

Every time Bluesky announces a new feature, 1000 people in the comments are like "we just want an edit button". No we fucking don't. I don't want my like/repost on something you changed after the fact to be some headass garbage. Just eat your typos, or delete and reskeet your little brain turd.

My god this is like the Libs splitting from the Nats in QLD in 1982 or 3 or whatever and that worked out well for them.

I wish we could just openly describe this as exactly what it is: a copy-paste of Trump's cruel, authoritarian crackdown on anyone too openly opposing the weaponised mass murder of families in Gaza.

You don't need to dance around the doublespeak of these murderous scumbags. Just say it out loud.
What does 'woke' mean? Peter Dutton's warning to schools is deliberately vague
Schools and universities with "woke" curriculums have been put on notice by Peter Dutton who doesn't want young people "indoctrinated".

today a NSW cop killed someone while a sacked NSW cop was given a non-custodial penalty after he deliberately tasered a great grandmother, causing her death, on the basis that he “poses no future threat”.

They all pose a current threat. Cut police forces by 41,000 cops, we would all be safer.

I just keep thinking of the heartlessness of going to an election promising to sack 41,000 people just because they’ve chosen public service. The LNP talks of small business owners going out of business as a tragedy. How is sending thousands of people into unemployment not?

Somehow watching repeats of #taskmaster never gets old.

Case in point: prize task to being in the most cash and Lolly pulls out £2000 and little Alex Horne’s face when he realises it’s real cash is perfection. He’s both horrified and amazed

Several EU countries have taken steps to attract U.S. scientists facing challenges in their home country:

France has launched initiatives like the "Safe Place for Science" program

The Netherlands has created a fund to lure top scientists

The EU as a whole is doubling its funding to attract talent

This line has been ringing in my head ever since I heard it but I think “we are all Gaullists now” (Rory Stewart on the rest is politics) is incredibly true
The myth that the US will always come to Australia’s rescue is just that – a myth.

@emmashortis.bsky.social asks what might our alliance look like we pursued a security that meant "collective human flourishing, not just the absence of war but genuine wellbeing grounded in equality and prosperity."
The US-Australia alliance has created a unique kind of subservience. What if we don’t need the US to come to our rescue? | Dr Emma Shortis
The alliance with the US is counterproductive to Australian interests, argues Emma Shortis. We need to rethink the alliance to be based on democratic solidarity – not fear

I get why news articles use "alleged" when reporting crime stories. However, surely there is a better way of writing this about a person who was actually shot. In fact, just say "the person who was shot" or similar.
