Aaron Goggans and I talk about what happens when movements start running on empty—how trauma, burnout, and dysregulation can shape our organizing, and what it takes to sustain ourselves and each other in a moment of crisis and emergency. I found this conversation so helpful, and I hope you will too.
Burnout Is Not Inevitable: Building Movements That Can Hold Us
“Care really should be at the center of our strategy, of our analysis, and of our practice,” says Aaron Goggans.

I have to figure out if any of my trekkie followers are also big enough nerds to be going to the upcoming Chicago area Star Trek convention. Because I will be there, and I would love to meet radical trekkies.

Those of us who are SA survivors are used to the mass shrug in response to even the most overt evidence of horrific behavior. Epstein's crimes and the complicity of many influential figures involved have been known for decades (’05 to be exact). It's never mustered much interest or consequence.

I blocked the person who posted this take and the three people who clicked like on it. Maybe they were kidding, you say? Don't care. Won't risk it. The trek fandom needs a zero-tolerance policy on Dukat apologism.

NEW — I spoke to DoorDash about the White House claiming the company's report shows "inflation has been tamed" and whether that's an interpretation one should make. An economist also weighed in, pointing out dictatorships use data obfuscation as a tool, and right now they're "grasping at straws."
WH claims 'inflation tamed,' per DoorDash stats. Company says that's not in its report.
It comes the same week we learned the WH would likely not release key economic reports for October.

In addition to being mad about the ads, I would be even madder about this ad, specifically — an advertisement that invades your kitchen to make you feel like you're *inside the show Pluribus*.

Chicago police are required by law to document every time they pull someone over. But an investigation by Bolts and Injustice Watch last year revealed the department failed to report hundreds of thousands of stops.

Chicago police are required to document every time they pull someone over. But a new investigation reveals the department is releasing vastly incomplete data to oversight agencies, even as the superintendent pledges reforms.

Revolution(s) was incredible. There’s only about a week left in its run, and if you can get tickets, I highly recommend going. It was the best theater experience I’ve had in well over a decade.

A number of local Chicago reporters/journalists have truly distinguished themselves over the past few weeks and I am so very grateful. It also shows that reporting is a public service when done well. Thank you all.

Maligning basic, safe OTC medications that most people have to resort to, like acetaminophen and ibuprofen, is part of a larger scam to blame people for their health problems (or their children's health needs or problems), so that the administration can claim people don't deserve care or support.
JD Vance calls ibuprofen "useless medication" and implies it's not "necessary, safe and effective."

Raskin on Ghislaine Maxwell: "The fact she was able to be transferred to a prison camp where no sex offenders had ever been allowed to enter before, much less live there, is an indication they've got some kind of meeting of the minds about what Trump can provide to her & what she can provide to him"
