Thought for Elections Canada: If you have two returning officers handing out two ballots to two people at a time, why do you only have one voting booth for one of those people to vote at while the other stands there waiting?

Did they delete the account or are they just blocking anyone critical of @rachelgilmore.bsky.social’s firing?
Looks like @ctvnews is hiding from all of bad press they’re getting.

A #Caturday throwback to six years ago today when two tiny feral balls of fluff moved in and promptly hid under the bed in terror for days. Now they own the house and demand tribute.

My grocery cart is full of food from so many countries. And nothing from the US.

The mango Mussolini keeps saying that the US doesn’t need anything from Canada.

But if we threaten to impose a tax on the electricity he doesn’t need he seems to get awfully upset about it.

I get the reason for paywalls on news sites, but it’s frustrating when I can’t go back and re-read the same article that didn’t exceed my monthly limit five minutes ago.

On the plus side, I have successfully trained the algorithm so that I now get cat pictures interspersed with the occasional political commentary instead of political commentary interspersed with the occasional cat picture.

Is tonight the State of Disunion address? Zero interest in listening to the fascist pumpkin babble incoherently about his love of Putin.
March 5, 2025 at 12:16 AM
Anyone surprised by the fascist pumpkin’s insane outburst in the oval office this week should probably review the details of his first impeachment.

On the topic of things that don’t bode well for Doug Ford’s Starlink contract for Ontario - the one he threatened to tear up over tariffs and then didn’t.
So let's get this straight: The U.S. and Elon are now extorting Ukraine and threatening to turn off their Starlink Internet access unless they give their critical rare earth minerals to the United States? Staggering levels of corruption.

“Expected to have arrived”?

That’s about as useful as “We have no actual clue where our plane is”, especially when the flight was diverted and landed in Vancouver.

But about what I would expect from Air Canada…

It’s the first day of advance polls in Ontario and 50% of the voter cards for our household have arrived.

Fortunately the neighbour with whom we share a driveway already had his snowblower out when we got home so I just had to deal with the front and back steps and walkway.

This is hardly the snowpocalypse Canadian weather forecasters have been predicting. I expected to wake up to at least not being able to tell where the edge of the sidewalk is.

Popping in to the grocery store to pick up a few things takes longer when you have to check to make sure the brands are Canadian. Or at least not American. But totally worth the time and effort.

On the topic of “Things to keep in mind in the upcoming provincial election”:
Before tariffs, Ford says he was ‘100% happy’ Trump won U.S. election in hot mic comments | Globalnews.ca
Speaking to a small group of people at his local campaign headquarters, Ford appeared to explain his initial admiration for President Trump in a moment caught on hot mic.

Here’s the thing about my shopping habits: for things I buy regularly I like to just go in and pick up the thing I pick up all the time. So even if tariffs go away, once I’m in the habit of not buying American products I will likely continue to not buy American products.

While I appreciate that there are a lot of sane Americans, the “We’re sorry” posts are feeling an awful lot like the “thoughts and prayers” that go around after every American school shooting.

My take on the various Traitors franchises: The more reality stars in the cast the less interested I am. Literally watching the latest US season for just Alan Cumming and Fergus.
