It is foolish to say that everyone at the Unite Our Kingdom protest was far right. Some were just racists, others were simply thick twats, many were bored football hooligans and thousands more were gullible fuckwits.

I agree; although there are so many other pressing needs too. However, defeating Farage is VITAL.
But how can he (Starmer) be a convincing opponent to Farage when
he parrots watered down versions of what Farage says?
From now on, Labour has one mission only. It must focus on saving Britain from Farage | Polly Toynbee
The hard right doesn’t speak for most voters. The progressive cause is not yet lost, but there is an urgent need for energy, purpose and clarity, says Guardian columnist Polly Toynbee

You’re telling me that right wing voters that Labour was trying to appeal to voted for a right wing party anyway and left wing voters decided not to vote for Labour because they’re too right wing now? Who could have possibly predicted this.

You have to see this.

PoliticsGirl and her husband teamed up with the brilliant Timothy Snyder (author of On Tyranny) and the legendary John Lithgow to create something truly powerful. It’s important, it’s urgent—and it needs to be shared far and wide.

Grim times ahead. They'll stay grim until Labour reverse stance on Brexit - that is the ONLY source of latent growth available to be tapped.

1) Erase bright red lines

2) Call out damage of Brexit, loudly

3) Begin negotiations to rejoin SM/CU

4) Lay groundwork for negotiations to rejoin the EU

If you want to win an election against far right opposition you need to bring together two groups. The activated liberals outraged by the other side and the more moderate groups who want govt to make their lives less difficult. Not by trying to win the enthusiastic supporters of the other side.

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

So, initial thoughts on Bluesky. Really love the vibe and the people. It feels like the other place did when it was a pleasant, supportive, informative place. On the downside, I wish it had the ability to look at what's trending. Maybe I'm missing something. Overall, this is my 'go to' place now.
