Reducible differential equations in FM #MathsToday
Students struggle differentiating wrt a different variable. I've never been happy with my explanations but today was much better. We broke it down by explicitly stating the chain rule. The different colours helped a lot!

Tree diagrams and Venn diagrams with Year 12 in #MathsToday. We started off with the matching activity and then used one of @paddymacmahon.com's activities to get them thinking about how trees and Venns are related.

Year 9 needed a little bit extra in #MathsToday so I popped this on the board for them. It was nice when some of them realised that they were all enlargements of the 3,4,5 triangle we started with.

In the lesson on Normal Distribution in #MathsToday, I made up a gangster question. I was expecting they would use the original distribution and the symmetry (eg answer in purple), but they came up with loads of alternatives by transforming the distribution! 🤩 #ALevelMaths

Half my Year 8s were out on a trip in #MathsToday so we did the Frogs investigation. We described the pattern and used it to predict the number of moves for 8 frogs. We then tested it with the 16 students. Even linked it to our work on quadratic graphs. Great fun.
