Case point for non natives: this is spotted knapweed, a Eurasian plant. It is one of the main flowers in bloom, right now. European honey bees are all over it - with a scattering of other native pollinators. Native wasps, bees, flies and butterflies are all over the native flowers. Huge difference

Twice-stabbed stink bugs!
I grew a tonne of anise hyssop from seed this year, it's been pulling in a lot of bugs. With the exception of the butterfly bush, native plants attract so much more life. Excited to see how my new Jersey tea shrubs do compared to butterfly bushes (similar flowers)

Twice-stabbed stink bugs!

It's been really cute watching my husband change into a rabid nature lover. Last weekend, he had gone outside and saw a black Swallowtail struggling to dry it's wings, post chrysalis. It crawled up his hand, and dried it's wings on his ear. He woke me up by coming inside with a butterfly earring

First time ever seeing an Eastern Giant Swallowtail! They're also North America's largest butterfly. This is the northern most part of its range, due to that they need Rue/citrus for a host, & we only have 2 species of rue native to where I live.

Najat is the primary care giver to her grandfather, who was an English teacher. He is very sick. This is a video she sent me on WhatsApp.
She tells me every day how everyone in the camp is dying. They are living through unspeakable horrors.

They are making bread out of pasta, if they can get pasta. Often times there is no water or food in the markets at her camp. The Israelis are dropping aid in Israeli occupied areas, not the camps. They don't get it. She has a big family, including a baby, Maryam.
