Hawke looked as if she might bound down the street in a sprint, but not out of an overabundance of rage. No, she felt it, too. Petrice. The Qunari. Saemus Dumar. The missing informants. Isabela. All of it. The kindling of Kirkwall was catching, and neither of them could pinpoint the arsonist.

an excerpt from the fic Holier than Thou by MissFoxyMittens. It reads as follows: “Believe it or not, I did… worry for the two of you. Bethany tried so hard to be normal. To be–” “Like you.” Marian finished for him. Bethany said so herself all of the time when they were younger. She’d copy his mannerisms at the Chantry, back straight against the pew with a false bored look. Even at home, she’d waste away time with tinder and flint to light a fire, only to have Marian come in behind her and ignite it. All she’d ever wanted was a quiet life, unmarred by magic. A fear Carver would never know and one he failed to fathom. “I’m not good at it like you are, Sister. I can only help ease a cough or treat a fever, but you? You’re unmatched.”

Damn I was so busy and stressed out yesterday I forgot it was #WIPWednesday, but I was too proud of my work this week to let it get away from me.

This is like, true WIP and not work I did a year back, and I have to say - Carver's POV has been a refreshing change of pace 😭

A snippet of writing from a work in progress that reads as follows: Deep purples and reds streaked with grey wisps painted the evening sky by the time they interred Anders. There, illuminated by a single lantern they’d hung from his staff, staked in the dirt, he looked so unlike the timid mage Carver had met all of those years back. Gaunt where cheeks had been full, dull where hair lustered; a shade of his former self. Was it the Calling that broke his will, or was it the possession? Maybe it was both. Maybe it was the hopelessness of his lot. What was it that Marian once said? He’d never fully understand it, or something akin to that. Looking at the dead man in his grave, Carver both understood and refuted her. He’d never be a mage, but he empathized with the man who saw no other way. Turning to an out that would maim everyone, including himself, if it meant he tasted what it was like to be powerful. Poor man. A shudder ran over Carver like a hand across his bare back. For a moment, he was the man in the grave.

Another #WIPWednesday and another preview from the next Holier Than Thou chapter! A character I really grew to love while writing this entire fic is Carver, and I feel like that comes through in these next few chapters. What a shithead, I love him so much. #DragonAge #DragonAgeII

Four years of work she knew hardly anything about, didn’t care to know, up until now. Forced proximity had that effect on estranged siblings. Varric recalled inviting Bartrand to visit the Hanged Man when he’d expressed interest in hiring mercenaries. It’d been the first time he’d seen him in two years for longer than five minutes. Curiosity for one’s kin, even when they’ve treated you like shit.
