there's a cultural chameleon social savvy that I take for granted as an immigrant that I totally don't grok that some people do not have
I remember unlearning these norms when I first started hanging out on what-became-ingroup, in spaces where there are these norms simply not having these norms is already cause for suspicion. if you want bridge both norms you need to code-switch, otherwise better to choose one
