Children need access to high-quality reading material in schools: books, magazines, comics, etc. So many schools have been unable to buy anything this year due to the ongoing budget crisis. And last year. And the year before. Something has to change because our pupils deserve better.

Apparently Bridget Phillipson is using the term "relentless improvement" as well as "driving up standards". A big issue we have in education atm is that *everyone* feels under too much pressure - children, teachers and parents. This kind of attitude is toxic and impacts on retention and attendance.

Who to believe ? Dr. Jack Shonkoff at Harvard centre for the developing child or an anonymous Ofsted “research” report that references Ofsted’s own “research” and some studies that relate to adults rather than under 5s? Gosh it’s a dilemma…
