Tthis vile administration’s actions are hitting home… literally. It’s being reported that 240,000 Ukrainians who are here legally are to be deported. This includes some of my neighbors as well as family members of my daughter’s classmates and her teachers from her old pre-K/daycare.

Fare thee well to the great Roy Ayers. While I love his Ubiquity era, don’t sleep on his early jazz recordings, especially Virgo Vibes which features a stellar line-up including Charles Tolliver, Joe Henderson, Reggie Workman, Harold Land, and Herbie Hancock.

May his memory be a blessing.

The title of this piece may seem hyperbolic, but it’s terrifyingly on point. A must-read.

24% of Americans get their healthcare from Medicaid (this includes two thirds of nursing home patients). Slashing the federal funding for Medicare “could result in millions of Americans across the country losing health coverage unless states decide to play a bigger role in its funding.”
Slashing Medicaid to Pay for Trump’s Tax Cuts Could Lead to Vast State Shortfalls
Republicans have proposed lowering the federal share of costs for Medicaid expansions, which could reshape the program by gutting one of the Affordable Care Act’s major provisions.

As a nearly life-long Dylan obsessive, I have a lot to say about A Complete Unknown, but overall I really dug it and thought Chalamet was brilliant.

1. The White House folded in the face of CNN v. Trump (2018), the suit brought when the press credentials of @jimacosta.bsky.social were revoked.

Sherrill v. Knight was cited as precedent.

Stop me if you've heard this before, but real quick...anyone know about Thomas King Forcade?

Tonight will be my first concert of 2025: the 60th anniversary of A Love Supreme with Ravi Coltrane’s Quartet playing the album in its entirety, followed by a clutch of improvisers playing off the album’s themes. As a bonus the night will kick-off with a panel discussion led by Ashley Kahn. #jazz

Normalize not eulogizing horrible people and glossing over their crimes (or vile views), just becuase you dig their art. Case in point: Peter Yarrow, a convicted child molester.

Fare thee well to the great music scribe Stanley Booth, whose book on the Stones is a truly crucial read. May his memory be a blessing.
