It's also worth taking a moment to reflect on what this information means in light of that same system forbidding patients from even asking their healthcare providers to mask.

Hospital leaders make policy to protect themselves, not patients - even if it kills you.

For anyone not aware, when the pandemic emergency status ended last spring, Mass General initially announced you couldn’t even ask if your provider was willing to mask. If you did, you could be escorted off property for hostile and disruptive behavior. They walked it back only with pushback. Evil.

This paper is interesting for a few reasons. It shows that mask mandates in healthcare protect patients from infections, and removing mask mandates in healthcare harms patients.

A facility without a mask mandate is making a *deliberate choice* known to harm patients.

In unadjusted analyses, the mean weekly ratio between hospital-onset and community-onset infections increased from 2.9% prior to Omicron dominance to 7.6% (95% CI, 6.0%-9.1%) during Omicron dominance. After universal masking and testing ended, it increased to 15.5% (95% CI, 13.6%-17.4%), then fell to 8.0% (95% CI, 5.0%-11.0%) following resumption of masking among health care workers. Under the adjusted Poisson model (Figure), cessation of universal masking and testing was associated with a 25% increase in hospital-onset respiratory viral infections compared with the preceding Omicron-dominant period (rate ratio [RR], 1.25; 95% CI, 1.02-1.53), and resumption of masking among staff was associated with a 33% decrease in hospital-onset respiratory viral infections (RR, 0.67; 95% CI, 0.52-0.85).

But whenever you see someone arguing that it was a mistake to close schools in 2020, see if they factor in any long term health consequences to the kids who were infected in their calculations. It is almost guaranteed that they will not.

Well, we know that the more times you've been infected with the COVID, the more likely you are to have longer term health issues from your infection. So maybe you have been fine so far, but the 10th infection you get 5 years from now will be the one that disables you:

Wallace-Wells' coup de grace. These men did shoddy science, made bad predictions, and doubled-down on them again and again, crying out that they were censored, being pilloried, when they are about to ascend to some of the most important posts in the US government. Cry me a river. 4/
Perhaps more to the point: If you argued in early 2020 that little should be done to stop a pandemic that would ultimately produce 1.3 million to 1.6 million excess American deaths, you would have had very few takers. And if you occupied a position of national scientific authority then and devised a pandemic response based on the supposition that Covid was only about 1/35th as deadly as it proved to be, you’d deserve criticism for minimizing the threat, not plaudits. The bigger matter is the question of how the country should have dealt with the Covid-19 threat at the outset. And at the outset, many of the most outspoken contrarians — today claiming vindication, complaining about censorship even after building huge social media followings during the pandemic — were telling us that the most important thing to know about the pandemic was that it was simply not a big deal.

We sent an AirFanta 3Pro to a certified microbiology lab to test the efficiency of removing microorganism in the air. This time, the tests were carried out in 15, 30, 45 and 60 minutes to see the difference.

Spending a month on Bluesky has created a whole new model of a fight we need to be having right now. Not liberal vs. conservative or whatever, but respect vs manipulation.

I am tired of being manipulated everywhere I go. That’s why I like it here, I feel like I’m in charge for once.
