Orwell said: Who controls the past controls the future, who controls the present controls the past”. This piece on the COVID revisionism of Jay Bhattacharya and Marty Makary is superb and a warning to us all.

So, this bloot about my paper blew up. Most common reaction: Duh! You need proof that masking in hospitals works?

The reality: Yes, many healthcare epidemiologists, including CDC advisors, have advocated for weaker guidance on masking and testing. Read on... 1/🧵 #IDSky #MedSky

It's also worth taking a moment to reflect on what this information means in light of that same system forbidding patients from even asking their healthcare providers to mask.

Hospital leaders make policy to protect themselves, not patients - even if it kills you.

For anyone not aware, when the pandemic emergency status ended last spring, Mass General initially announced you couldn’t even ask if your provider was willing to mask. If you did, you could be escorted off property for hostile and disruptive behavior. They walked it back only with pushback. Evil.

This paper is interesting for a few reasons. It shows that mask mandates in healthcare protect patients from infections, and removing mask mandates in healthcare harms patients.

A facility without a mask mandate is making a *deliberate choice* known to harm patients.

But whenever you see someone arguing that it was a mistake to close schools in 2020, see if they factor in any long term health consequences to the kids who were infected in their calculations. It is almost guaranteed that they will not.

Well, we know that the more times you've been infected with the COVID, the more likely you are to have longer term health issues from your infection. So maybe you have been fine so far, but the 10th infection you get 5 years from now will be the one that disables you:

Jay Bhattacharya has no business being with 500 miles of NIH. This is unhinged stuff. They "caused" the pandemic? Fire all people working on pandemic preparedness? This is not normal. I ask colleagues to stop pretending it is.
Happy thanksgiving! If you work to stop pandemics, be grateful you still have a job. The next NIH director has some plans for you.

Wallace-Wells' coup de grace. These men did shoddy science, made bad predictions, and doubled-down on them again and again, crying out that they were censored, being pilloried, when they are about to ascend to some of the most important posts in the US government. Cry me a river. 4/

"Long COVID is a quiet reshaping of life itself, gradually taking away the things we once took for granted, with a cost we may only fully understand when it’s too late."

What do all these diseases have in common?

• Tuberculosis
• Multiple Sclerosis
• Epilepsy
• Cancer
• Parkinsons Disease
• Lyme Disease

There were times when the medical profession tried to claim they were psychosomatic.

Don’t be that doctor.
Educate yourself.

Spending a month on Bluesky has created a whole new model of a fight we need to be having right now. Not liberal vs. conservative or whatever, but respect vs manipulation.

I am tired of being manipulated everywhere I go. That’s why I like it here, I feel like I’m in charge for once.
