It wasn't about weirdness for weirdness, for me, it was about the divinity-grade acceptance of + affection for the real contours of the world, human and otherwise, present in so much of Lynch's work: gruesome and cloying and piercingly beautiful and dumb, the whole mess, all that open-eyed curiosity

I got to be friends with David Lynch when we were both at Universal years ago. A very kind man, he was a fan of Bob's Big Boy. So was I. I'm going to miss him. R.I.P. David.

David Lynch was a beautiful soul. He included one of the first openly trans characters in a TV show with David Duchovny's 'Denise' in Twin Peaks in the early 90s. Uncommon on network TV back then.
