I think that's why there's that pseudoincest throughout the show between Kanba and Himari. Shouma never interacts with Himari that way while Kanba is more stereotypically masculine in his hotheadedness.
Which is why Shouma is the one who makes a proper sacrifice and Kanba vanishes.

Anyone who dares to fall outside of these gender and familial norms is "weird," "strange," "unsavory." In short, they are "queer."
