Distributed challenge-led research clusters working with the Mary Lyon Centre at MRC Harwell to accelerate understanding of human disease using #MouseModels
Our Best Models Working Group can offer advice on the use of a range of model systems.

Next in our series highlighting the diverse expertise of our Working Group are Prof Matthew Guille and Dr Annie Godwin who work with Xenopus to recreate novel human gene variants thought to cause disease.

Sid took his work forward and independently drove the development of a computational tool (dualGSEA) that enables statistical and biological analysis of gene expression data to facilitate a more nuanced interpretation of transcriptomic info and contribute to the identification of therapeutic targets
June 10, 2025 at 3:56 PM
In early 2024, Sid’s work resulted in a new way to classify tumours based on biological pathways rather than individual gene expression. This allowed the identification of a slow cycling phenotype (PSD3) that spanned two of the CMSs and resulted in poor outcomes despite a less aggressive appearance.
June 10, 2025 at 3:56 PM
In 2023, Sid was involved with the challenge of aligning genetically engineered mouse models with the consensus molecular subtypes (CMS1-4) of human colorectal cancers, developing the MmCMS classifier to more accurately match mouse models with human cancers and improve translatability.
