Useful insight from the FT. I still have some pessimism though. If Europe doesn’t buy it, trump will turn to Africa and other nations. Why? Because he has stated that essentially his whole plan for making America great is based on oil and gas exports. He HAS to force someone to buy it.

US LNG imports come with very significant additional (perhaps worse than coal) greenhouse gas emissions associated with extraction (leaky shale) and transportation (liqufactiin, shipping, venting etc).

Just became aware of a new front for the GWPF I had not encountered before. The Renewable Energy Foundation. All seems legit until you realise it’s led by well known anti net zero activists from the Conservative Party and GWPF. Connected enough to get headline stories in the DM and Torygraph though.

Not that knowledgeable about financial markets nor normally a conspiracy fan but could it be possible for a trillionaire to manipulate bond markets to create a crisis to remove a government he doesn’t like? #bonds #markets #politics

The withdrawal of US companies from ESG and Net Zero groups and commitments is well underway and still 10 days until the new administration takes power. It will be interesting to see how the US activism affects UK companies with US ambitions and collaborations. www.esgtoday.com/jpmorgan-lea...

Cornwall Insight: AR7 and AR8 together must deliver up to 20GW of offshore wind, 7GW-8GW of onshore wind and 23GW-24GW of solar. AR6 secured 5GW offshore wind, 900MW onshore wind and 3.3GW solar PV.

The scale of challenge ahead is huge.
Next two renewable energy auctions must procure up to 52GW to achieve clean power 2030
The next contracts for difference auctions will have to procure record-breaking amounts of renewable energy to meet the 2030 target.

Interesting times ahead. It seems clear since the start of the year that the next US president will seek to use political, commercial and military power to force his way of thinking on the EU, Canada and everyone else. This will end badly & will have a bigger impact on net zero than anticipated.

Ok, I have been following Krakens #projectmercury presentation today. Key takes.
1. Good to see so much energy for standards and making DSR interoperable and work internationally
2. But why aren’t they joining existing working groups like the PAS1878 or Connectivity standards alliance?

The future homes standard should do something about banning push fit microbore piping too. My house is only 22 years old and can’t have a heat pump due to cheap pipe work throughout the house.
