"Torment Nexus" comes from this tweet and is often used now to describe the kind of negative experiences you can have with social networks, like getting dogpiled or harassed or being pushed into conflict

Took a few days to find and follow a decent chunk of my crowd, but I'm digging this #Mastodon thing. So far it's exactly what #Bluesky has wanted to be. Keeping the account here on Bluesky open for now as not everyone has migrated, but I don't plan to spend much of my time here instead of there.

On one hand, I'm sad to see Cactus Jack leaving #ECW in late January 1996. On the other hand, Foley moved on for a guaranteed paycheck and if he hadn't gone to #WWF then kid-me never would have seen him and found one of my favorite pro wrestlers of all time..!

PCIe modem card thing for the "bring my Dreamcast online" project arrived a week early!
...the downside is I don't know if I'll have time this week to start the project early. Oh well! I'm still excited to figure this all out when time permits!

One minor downside to having a cat is they don't react when you're being intentionally ridiculous. I found out I made a mistake in my computer stuff and said "Oh well! You live and you learn! ...and you hang on the edge of tomorrow" and my cat looked at me nonchalantly like "yes those are words"

Just set up DNS host overrides in the new OPNsense router and it feels like some kind of magic to be able to access stuff in my network by name instead of IP! This is pretty neat, I'd been relying on a bookmarks folder previously.

OPNsense router is up and running! It was... surprisingly uneventful. I haven't set up any of the advanced features yet, but those will come with time. For now the only functionality I've lost is Plex outside of my home network, but I can fix that later.

New OPNsense router is mostly configured, running repeated iperf tests overnight to ensure the SFPs don't cause the PC to overheat. It won't be running full bore like this regularly, but it's good to do a burn-in test for mission-critical equipment.

Saved (some) money by ordering Direct Attach Copper Twinax cables, they should be here within the next few days. Two are new short ones from FS and eight(!) are 5m (16 ft) from eBay. This oughtta give me stuff to play with for a few months..!

Well shoot, the Cisco SFP-10G-LRM SFPs specifically say "Not compatible" in my Brocade ICX-7250 switch. At this rate it might be cheaper to buy new SFPs for $30 each instead of buying eBay lots and finding they aren't the advertised speed/aren't compatible/etc...
