Second, there is a growing income gap in reported use of AI, with wealthier parents more likely to report their kids are using AI and a gap that has widened since we asked the same questions last year.

Chronic absenteeism increased substantially from before to after the COVID-19 pandemic across all student groups in Virginia and North Carolina. These figures show increases for selected groups from pre- to post-COVID in VA and NC.

We also report results from a survey experiment we conducted, where we provided half the respondents with a brief explainer about the costs of opt-out and the benefits of inclusion. This significantly reduced support for opt-out, and the effect partially persisted over many months.

We see from our survey and other national polls that Americans do support parent opt-out. But we also see that this support is somewhat conditional--they are less supportive when specific topics are named (and less supportive of opt-out for racial topics than LGBTQ+)
