Really surprised to hear how many ideas I agree with Jordan on.
My own huge change to the schedule would start with a 26 race regular season. We're moving Daytona 500 to the week before the super bowl. Season ends in Mid July, then a few weeks off before the really big idea.
Sell a ten race package unlike anything NASCAR has done before. Sell it to either NETFLIX or HBOmax. This will appeal to the old school fan and be unique enough to attract new fans.
12 3-car teams. All have to share a single sponsor so the cars match. Cars are all spec and provided by NASCAR. The teams will not be told in advance what they are starting with. They will not be allowed to study the car.
Teams arrive at the tracks on Tuesday to cars already wrapped with their provided designs. They get one hour a day Tuesday thru Friday to practice and work on the car. Otherwise it's impounded. Saturday is for qualifying, and Sunday is race day.
This will lead into the NFL season, but if we can get fans into a rhythm of following all week with the culmination on Sunday, they might be invested enough to stick around. This will provide the media with the full week of things to talk about.
Most of all, it's different enough that the 26 race champion isn't being stepped on. We will have a traditional season and then a totally different one that celebrates the mechanics and guys who work behind the scenes.

I wish this were true. I didn't say that 3/3/4 was unlikely. It's actually what I bet we get. (I prefer full 36) But I don't recall implying 3/3/4 was unlikely. I did speak to how 3/3/4 with no points resets and 10 race playoff could be viewed as similar.
I'm confident tho that truck and Xfinity follow the way of Cup in what change may come at the cup level.
