I discovered and disclosed a major vulnerability in the cloud-connected #IoT smart thermostats made by Mysa.

They were completely open to remote monitoring and control.

Details of the discovery and disclosure, and what it means 👇

A total remote-control and remote-discovery vulnerability in IoT smart thermostats
tl;dr Until this past week, an attacker could have easily and surreptitiously discovered, monitored, and controlled all of the Mysa smart thermostats in the world. Mysa thermostat owners use the Andro...

It's weird this isn't being said much, much more loudly. There's a very strong instrumental reason for not doing war crimes—because you don't want to see the same thing happen to your own forces.

The laws of war were created by states, for states, and states forget their purpose at their power.
Killing Shipwrecked Survivors is Not Just Illegal—It Endangers U.S. Servicemembers

Killing Shipwrecked Survivors is Not Just Illegal—It Endangers U.S. Servicemembers
If the United States chooses a path where killing defenseless survivors becomes acceptable, American servicemembers will pay the price for that choice.

Government actors who refuse to be bound by the rule of law are not morally entitled to its protection.

Trump 2.0, above all else, is characterized by a syndrome in which the regime's leaders are compelled by their own character defects and/or crazed ideological beliefs to commit crimes that leave even deeply jaded, cynical partisans for their side aghast and concerned for their own wellbeing.
Shift from “there may be some classified or legal framework that could potentially be a viable excuse for the use of force if it won in court” to “oh this is the Ur war crime, like so clearly a war crime that there is no legal cover for this specific order”.

This whole thing is racist, but take particular note of the threat of denaturalization. That's stripping people of their citizenship, and that's the road to mass murder and atrocity.
Trump: “I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries … denaturalize migrants who undermine domestic tranquility, and deport any Foreign National who is a public charge, security risk, or non-compatible with Western Civilization.“

Four of Trump's five children have an immigrant mother, and the one who doesn't is married to the son of two immigrants.
Trump makes the outrageous claim that “most” immigrants, which include over 25 million U.S. citizens, “are on welfare, from failed nations, or from prisons, mental institutions, gangs, or drug cartels.”

As insulting as the “deplorables” comment, and on Thanksgiving day no less.

Everyone in politics, everyone in media knows what’s happening here: the White House is controlled by a repellant white supremacist who waits with bated breath for any opportunity to run nonwhite people out of America. They know who it is, what he’s doing. But they won’t SAY it.

The US tariff policy seems increasingly designed to deepen the trade deficit, penalizing things the US exports, while keeping expensive things it imports relatively cheaper.
Do I have this correct? We are not tariffing smartphones, the advanced tech product that isn’t primarily manufactured here. And we are tariffing cars, the products we do make largely here. OK.

Today, after months of requests, I toured the Broadview ICE Processing Facility. I want to share what I saw.

The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.

BLITZER: I want to be precise. Should members of the US military obey clearly illegal orders?

McCLAIN: You're asking an enlisted person for their opinion on what they think is legal. That's a pretty slippery slope. Follow your commander in chief. That's the oath that you took

-No authorization from Congress
-No allies or international support
-No plan for a post-Maduro Venezuela
-No preparation for any sort of stabilization or containment of the fallout
