Or John Mitchel. Who's status in the pantheon of Irish 'freedom fighters' is untouched by his virulant racism and fanatical support for slavery. Even Conferates found his views extreme historyireland.com/southern-cit...

All four Fine Gael MEPs voted with the far-right: Nina Carberry, Regina Doherty, Seán Kelly, Maria Walsh

Independent Ireland MEP Ciaran Mullooly also sided with the far-right

The centre-right abandoned talks with the greens, centre-left and liberals on an alternative deal
EU conservatives vote with far right to approve cuts to green rules
The outcome highlights the EPP’s willingness to abandon its traditional centrist coalition allies.

Ended up watching the Eng v Ton match with the two Samoans who came to install the cable - we all learned many interesting colloquial ways of screaming abuse at logos...as did the neighbours.

Was interested to read SF announcing they expelled a party member as their partner is implicated in the recent Far Right terrorist bombing plans - yet no mention of taking Carthy's dog whistle away.

It wasn't even an ad - which would be bad enough - it was literally a rugby ball shaped logo telling us we were watching the 1999 Rugby World Cup. In case we thought it was fucking Neighbours or Mad Max or something.
Obviously on a timer for every 15 minutes...

Was living in Sydney during 1999 RWC and on TV they had this f'king logo that would periodically swoop into view. Regardless of what was happening on the pitch at the time.
It was so bad I got cable... which had even more swoopy action blocking logos telling us we were watching the RWC.

It's huge.
The narrative around the last Crash was dominated by negative equity as if that was of paramount importance.
Well, as someone who's house was in massive negative equity it didn't make a damn difference to me as I just kept paying the mortgage on my home. Where I still live.

'Rebuilding Ireland' 2020.
'Ireland Rebuilt' 2021.
'Build Ireland' 2022.
'Ireland. A building plan' 2023
'Building plan for Ireland' 2024.
'Plan for Rebuilding Ireland' 2025.

... it's difficult to write that stuff... by 2022 I was convinced I was spelling 'build' incorrectly...

Added to which the failure to replace local authority housing stock that was sold to tenants.
Plus the rebounding of a house as a commodity, not a home.

My son is in his 40s. A single parent civil servant. One of his children is now an adult, the other not far off it.
His best hope of owning a house is me kicking the bucket.
I'm not enthusiastic about that as a plan.

Wish I'd known about "clusterbleep" during the years I spent stuck in traffic with small children in the car.
