Yeah, that's right... an MIT study shows 95 percent of generative AI products fail to provide any real value. No shit. Sloppers live in vain. Stop the slop.

Interesting that in some areas there appears to be a competitive advantage emerging where services are advertised as NOT using AI.

AI as the processed food of information.

I have to admit that the last week left me a little stunned. I have been trying to think of what to say beyond mere platitudes. It is beyond me that so much of the industry is focused on such short-term profit-taking, in a way that is so damaging not only to employees, but to the very business -

The UK spends a lower proportion of GDP on supporting sick and disabled people than almost every other OECD country (see first chart); so what are Starmer, Kendall and Reeves playing at with these cuts?
GP working 30 yrs in a mixed urban area, rich & poor

Rarely seen people abuse the benefits system
Seen lots of the health, social & wealth systems fail those in most need

The healthy & wealthy always making the decisions

The lack of algorithm on Bluesky tells me that we were fools to accept it elsewhere. We all now talk about how Musk uses it to suppress dissent on twitter, but he hardly invented it. Letting someone else set parameters for what you see is maybe the most poisonous thing that social media normalised.

Just a reminder that generative AI is theft of labor and intellectual property, uses vast amounts of energy/ water, provides at best mediocre results (if not outright lies or misinformation), actually affects your ability to think over time (mind duh), and is in general a really fucking bad idea.
